Poor kids today. "Hands On" makes learning stick in your head.
Writing notes is better than typing notes.
Recent studies show that when you 'doodle' while taking notes on paper in a notebook, you actually learn better and absorb the information that is being taught to you better.
Pounding a calculator all day is great. Saves time, gives you more opportunities to learn more. Has many benefits. But not mastering a the Math essentials, and more, on paper makes you think un More..

Damn Right!!
Although all my kids have laptops to do their homework on, they have to write it on paper first before typing into word. Not only do they absorb more but they always have a hard copy back up for when the laptops fuck up...
When i was at school it was all paper and no electronic gadgets except for Information Technology. I remember nearly everything that i learnt in all the other lessons but cannot for the life of me remember anything i learnt in the four years of IT. All More..

Yep. It`s much more rewarding if you discover relevent mathematics yourself, rather than having it rammed into your brain.

LOL! That is damn funny and really not too far off. I can think of one post-grad teaching a math course and nobody could understand him. It was pretty bad.

My grandfather spoke Norwegian but he's been dead for 30 years. Keep it English.
