The Splintering Rainbow - South Africa
A wry and insightful journey through the state of South Africa, asking if Nelson Mandela's longed-for Rainbow Nation is sinking into a typical African dysfunctionality.
Rian Malan - one of the country's foremost literary talents - discovers that modern South Africa's best weapon is its ability to laugh at itself.
With the results of yesterdays election still coming in, it is clear that the ANC will win the election with about 65% of the vote. The DA will most likely win the western cape province with Helen Zille becoming the premier. Hopefully she can do for the whole province what she did for Cape Town.
