  • Not 1 serious collector will pay more than scrap value for cleaned coins. Leave them as they are.

I agree and very good point. I should have mentioned in the video that I had taken these to a coin shop in the city and found out that they were only good for their silver value and that is why I chose to clean them this way. They had no other value then their silver content

  • Hey 10Fold!

I am personally so pleased (as I am sure others are) that your new hobby of metal detecting is being productive for you and that killing anything that moves has ceased...

Top tip: NEVER clean what you find yourself as you could seriously devalue even destroy it.

I too use a detector and I have never cleaned any of my finds in anything other than mild soap, a very soft brush, deionised water simply to remove very lose surface dirt and that is it.

These coins you are listing - res More..

Thank you for your comment and info. I should have mentioned in the video that I had taken these to a coin shop in the city and found out that they were only good for their silver value and that is why I chose to clean them this way. They had no other value then their silver content. Before I had them looked at, I had done my Due diligence with these two coins.

  • I hope that coin isnt worth much, cause you just devalued it, in a collectors eyes.

  • That worked really great.
How long was it in there? Overnight?

Well, anyway, your 10 cents are now worth 2-10 dollar:)

  • About the don't clean it comments, I would say do clean it. Unless you find some really old ones, just check on internet first.
At least you have a nice looking coin in your collection now.

Those recent coins, people really don't pay extra because they look ugly from being buried for a couple of years...

Really, no coin collector ever showed me his dirty corroded Roman coins.
They had the shiny ones, looking as if made yesterday.
Those ugly cluttered up ones are for museums.

  • Informative video, and well done. Always ben interested in some sort of treasure hunting. Maybe the metal detector would be a good start.
