- We have not life imprisonment in Norway.
The central letter debate
This week there has been debate about Breivik should be allowed to write and receiveletters while in prison. From prison, he will continue his fight against the democraticvalues of Norwegian society today is based on. He will be through letter correspondence with supporters, and he uses up to ten hours a day to write letters.
Lippestad raises questions about how human it is to possibly take from Breivik right to write from his cell.
- This touches on a central theme throughout our criminal justice system. So if a person says it is not right if he can´t write, we shall take from him the opportunity ? Is that a humane criminal justice system?
Last year Lippestad spent time trying to understand why Behring Anders Breivik not able to see individuals.
- He has a very special women and especially a tabloid and categorize view of other people. He categorizes people in huge groups, says the defender in an interview withNRK.
- What is interesting is to see that people with such a totalitarian and one-dimensional view of the world quickly changes when someone comes into that do not fit into their world view. Women or Muslims he has met that differ from the prejudices of his are always exceptions, said the defender.
