Well just to give you some idea... that poof of smoke right about the soldiers helmet (in the ground in front of the base), just after the blase...that was shrapnel.

Not shrapnel. The dust flies up JUST as the bomb explodes. If it was from the bomb it would be after the explosion (because of the distance involved and the time needed for shrapnel to travel that far)
That dust was from a sniper bullet. The one that he fired right before the bomb exploded.
If a bullet travels 2000 fps, and they are 1000yds away(3000ft), then it takes a second and a half for the bullet to arrive at the target.
(Or in this case, WELL SHORT of the target)

The bullet would arrive before the sound at that distance, if it was a sniper shot... FYI.
They themselves mentioned the shrapnel after it happened.
That shrapnel travels faster then you think.

I said the explosion. (The SIGHT of the explosion)
Which travels at the speed of light vs speed of shrapnel.
It was indeed a bullet. Fired just before he met allah snackbar.
Took a sec or two to get there. Like I said.
Shrapnel does travel faster than bullets sometimes but the timing is still wrong for it to be shrapnel. It was the very instant of the explosion almost!
