We got approx 28 inches of snow in a 24 hour period in my area of Maine and with heavy wind it created some deep snow drifts. At times the snow was falling at a rate of 3-4 inches per hour. A state of emergency was declared and radio reports suggested that everyone stay off of the roads as some state road plowing and police services had been suspended.
This video is of me busting through some deep windrows (5 foot) and plowing some driveways. Will be boring for some, interesting for others.
My Equipment: 2010 Ford F-250, Boss 9'2" VXT V plow.
Details: The first push in is done with the plow in "V" mode so I can create a somewhat clear path to where I want to eventually put the snow. This is only really necessary with deep snow. The later pushes are done with the blade angled in one direction in order to push the snow to one side and forward to where I will make a big pile. I also angle the blade straight and back-drag the snow away from the barn doors. This property, and its owners, are new to me so I didnt want to get too close to the doors. Near the end of the first driveway I angle the blade to "scoop" mode to help clean up the driveway and bank the snow. On the second driveway, the windrow is at least 5 feet tall and busting through it leaves a foot of snow on the hood which I have to stop and remove so I can see. The first driveway was $50 and took 9 minutes. Yeah, it was a fun day!!
Note: The hood of this truck is 5 feet off of the ground.
