    Old story, and as far as climbing goes not really that big a deal. I knew Dano and climbed with more than most people. Too bad he died doing stupid stunts that had nothing to do with rock climbing. He left behind a really cool daughter Emma, good thing she's doing well these days.

      Correct.
      It rarely is the climb that kills any climber, typically its a fall of some sort.

  • I know this guys ex-girlfriend- the last girlfriend that was with him when he died on Half Dome jumping off like a mad man with just the rope stretch keeping him from hitting rock bottom. She's cool, she talked about him first time I met her- mainly because my name is Dan as well- lol. Guy took some risks, and payed for it. At least Black Diamond knows their ropes can't handle cross-rope friction without melting and failing now...

    • Yeah that is gnarly, apparently he was always testing and going beyond the load limits of these ropes. The melting part was interesting because you don't even really think of it melting but more cutting.
