SANTA ANA (CBS) ― Police asked for the public's help Thursday in the search for a man who raped a 16-year-old girl earlier this week.
The victim was walking along the 2300 block of South Main Street around 2 a.m. Monday when she was confronted by a young man who dragged her behind a nearby business and raped her, said Cpl. Jose Gonzalez, a Santa Ana Police Department spokesman.
After he fled, she called police, who carried out an extensive but unproductive search.
The woman was taken to a hospital and later released, Gonzalez said.
The assailant was described as a Hispanic man between 20 and 25 years old, stocky, unshaven, sporting a dark beanie, a gray shirt and jeans.
Anyone with information about the crime or its perpetrator was urged to contact Santa Ana police detectives at (714) 245-8379.
