Safe Mode: On
United States Election being bought by 47-Billionaires

The Public Interest Group Education Fund and the NGO Demos released a study in early August on the financing of the presidential campaign.

They found that nearly 60% of the almost quarter of a billion dollars
raised by Super PACs from individuals derived from just 47 people, who
gave at least $1 million each (obviously some gave much more).
47 people. That’s democracy?

Of these 47, the most generous (or greedy) are Sheldon Adelson and
his wife, who gave $36 million themselves. Since the total known amount
from individuals is $240 million, some 15 percent of the individual
contributions, or one-sixth, are coming from one family.
Some 94% of these funds came from a little more than a thousand
donors, each of whom gave $10,000 or more (47 clearly gave a million or
more).
There are also super pacs funded by corporations, not just individuals! And there are anonymous donors.

The Super Pacs are turning this presidential election into a toxic slamming match beyond anything seen in the recent past.

These extremely wealthy and arrogant people are not giving this money for their health. They are expecting something for it.

The Koch brothers want to kill green energy and preserve the value of their petroleum.

Sheldon Adelson and his wife want Mitt Romney to start a war with
Iran on behalf of Israel. (Adelson when in Israel is a major backer of
far rightwing Likud Party PM Binyamin Netanyahu).
If you put your politicians up for sale, as the US does (alone in
this among industrialized democracies), then someone will buy them– and
it won’t be you; you can’t afford them.
After Nicolas Sarkozy lost the presidency in France, SWAT teams went
into his house looking for evidence that he had received $50,000
illicitly from the L’oreal heiress. $50,000? Our politicians get that
in their sleep; and it wouldn’t be illegal!

  • Don't ask Obama and Debbie Wasserman Schulz about the PACs. They have no idea about them or their political affiliations.

  • If Iran wants to attack Israel while maintaining peace with the USA, they should simply outbid Adelson. I'm sure Mitt would oblige them.

As for the Koch Bros, all they are doing is making sure America is the last country to go green. Europe and Japan are already WAY ahead.

    • @Nepean109 yes green like Solyndra, green like GM's Chevy Volt...Tell me, what do these two situations share in common...?

      Obama.

We aren't Europe, a collection of Nationalistic countries faking they like each other and we aren't Japan, an island nation located next to China.

Your theory sucks, it's simple minded and frankly, retarded.

The Koch Bros don't like Socialism.

The difference between people like the Koch Bros and the politicians is a very thin line except for these two truths, the More..

    • @T0M65 ...they were not so BEFORE the Bush Supreme Court change it so "corporations are the same as people". Do you believe in that idea?

  • Don't forget that Bohama got his share of millionaire money too. It's only his voters who don't have much money.

  • They told us what was up when they changed the color of our currency to match the board-game Monopoly's money.

Now, Ones are white, Fives are pink, Tens are yellow, Twenties are green, Fiftys are blue.

... and someone is laughing at us.
Go ahead and google 'us money monopoly' and laugh your ass off at the images. May as well get a giggle out of it, reality is stranger than fiction.

  • Good post. I bring this up all of the time.
If Romney represents the banks, Big business, and Israel....
Obama represents the banks, green companies, and Israel....
    WHO REPRESENTS US???? NOBODY.
So pretty much......taxation without representation then.
What happened last time we had that?

    Keep your powder dry.

  • LOL I love it. I wish I had billions to give to Romney/Ryan myself but I give what I can.

Sure it don't add up to what the commy unions give to obama and his thugs but every little bit helps I always say.

    • @WEEDBENDER ...Obama's campaign can't match the money flowing from corporations into Mitt's greedy soft hands.

      Posted Aug-14-2012 By

    • @Nepean109 Corporations supported Obama in 2008, now they realize their mistake. No one wants to have to move to Singapore but Obama's policies have priced American jobs right out of the market.

  • As far as I know...it's not illegal

    Posted Aug-14-2012 By

    • @wargypzy ....it used to be. Bush's Supreme Court changed the whole definition of America with this one rule: they said Corporations are people. Do you believe that? Your founding fathers would have been shocked.

I don't know much about campaign finance laws...but if it's legal
      what's the problem?

    • @wargypzy

It's illegal for most jobs to accept "gifts" whether it's a lunch for a job well done, or a simple pen. You are NOT ALLOWED to take any types of gifts.

Why is it that the politicians are able to receive "gifts" yet normal citizens are not?

There's a conflict of interest here.

      Posted Aug-14-2012 By

    • @mphatik

The only conflict of interest here is or you is Adelson is behind Romney who supports Israel

If Adelson gave that much to a candidate who was more on the Palestinian side..you would have not as much of a problem

ps- I am still waiting for your apology for calling me a dickhead

    • @wargypzy ... what if the money was going to move the politician to ignore YOU - the voter? How would you feel then?
