At long last, the TAR-21 "Tavor" bullpup rifle will be coming to a gun store near you this fall, thanks to the fine people at the newly reformed Charles Daly Defense and their partners at Trans World Arms.
This is easily the most anticipated rifle in years, even more-so than the Kel-Tec RFB and the Steyr AUG SA/A3. The TAR-21 is considered to be one of the finest bullpup combat rifles ever designed. It needs to be, as it is the standard issue rifle of the Israeli military and was designed to be an accurate and reliable weapon against terrorism and crime in one of the world's most dangerous and historically violent countries. The civilian-legal version of the TAR-21 was previously only available to our Canadian friends up north. This goes to show that once again, there is nothing you Canucks possess which we cannot have ourselves. ;P
... except maybe free health care, of course.
For those of you not in the know, here's some more info about the TAR-21.

@jum_runky Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you guys up north get an actual semi-auto HK MP7? Albeit there are a lot of restrictions, but I think I read something somewhere about civilians being able to get them after jumping through some serious hoops.

@URmomsOBGYN
Not sure. You can actually get some pretty cool hardware up here (Para Ordnance pistols, for example) but you certainly do need to jump hoops. Anything "scary looking" is generally banned.
If you could get a semi mp7, it would have a five round limit.
I just shoot an AR, for targets, because I can field strip one blindfolded.

Why would you want a rifle like that if you can only have it in semiauto?

@DontFeedMyDog because firing fully auto in an assault is highly inaccurate and a waste of ammo. I know this through experience and also just watch the clips from Iraq and Afghanistan, the only fully auto you will see is thru GPMG's, or the silly Taliban with an AK spraying and hoping to hit something.

I agree. It's a lot like a little dog: it's a dog, but less of a dog than a rottweiler.

@fishemAn Fully auto serves its purpose in certain situations. If you want a semi auto rifle you could buy much better rifles than this. This weapon was made for close quarter type fighting.

"The price range is up in the air". The Israelis have been building this thing for years and they know exactly what they should charge ti make a profit and still get significant sales. But after years of looking at this business, it'll cost $3,000, parts will be impossible to get, it will really be no better then a $1200 Stag gas-piston AR, and it will flop.

Don't really see it catching on, great little bullpup though, shot one last year, fun to shoot. American's don't really take to the bullpup design, case in point the Styer Aug and MSAR, the FN Fs2000 and the few semi FA MAS rifles that are here.
Some great designs but the SHTF crowd wants redundancy and availability of parts, hence the AR15 and AK platforms being so popular. Not saying that they're not great weapons, but the novelty of these will ware off after a year or so when all the call of More..

Since when has gun ownership been restricted for only sporting needs?
[And please don't forget the reference source.]

I really like bullpups. Made right they have great balance.
Only one I have ever fired is the Walther G22. Had a lot of fun with it, even though the rear sight integrated in the carry handle was a POS imo.

Of course "free health care" is a myth, even in canada.
So does that mean this video is fake?

@dav1936531 Get a Stag AR instead, you can order a left handed version (ejection port and controls are reversed) for about $1200.

Let's just say that not all of us Yanks share the belief that we live in a land of lollypops and rainbows, where nothing bad will ever happen and our leaders will make everything a-okay. Not all of us live here by choice, either.
