Peshawar—A senior Taliban Commander is among eight militants killed in a land mine blast and clashes with the security forces in Kurram agency and Swat district on Thursday morning. A number of alleged terrorist also sustained injuries.
Reports reaching here from Central Kurram say at least six Taliban militants including a local Taliban commander were killed as a roadside Improvised Explosive device (IED) exploded in the sectarian stricken Kurram agency Thursday morning.

The remote control bomb hit the vehicle of alleged Taliban militants while passing through the town of Marinday in the Kurram tribal region. However some reports say the vehicle of the militants ran over a land mine when they were traveling in three vehicles from Waramgai area to Marandi Thursday wee hours. The officials say one vehicle was destroyed completely while two others also sustained damages killing six people on board and wounding equal number of others.
The officials claim a known Taliban Commander namely Hakim Khan belonged to Tehreek Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and was reportedly the in charge of number of militant’s hide outs in Kurram and Aurakzai agencies was among those killed on Thursday.
Commander Hakim Khan was also required to the forces in attack on the troops and kidnapping people for ransom. The officials said adding his two other comrades Nawaz and Rahim Yar khan were also killed in the explosion. The militant, as the officials claimed, as usual shifted the dead bodies and the injured to unknown place. No group claimed responsibility for the attack as yet.
In the meanwhile the security forces claimed to have gunned down two militants in Taliban dominated Peochar area in Swat district after they were spotted by the local defense committee. However, the independent sources narrated the story other wise and denied any operation in the area.
The miscreants were trying to hide themselves in a forest when spotted by the local members of the defense committee. They entered the Peochar area in the night taking advantage of the night but eventually fell prey to a minor operation by the security forces present in Peochar. The security officials claimed.
However, the independent sources as well as the locals ridiculed official claims of any kind of operation by the security forces where in two militants were killed though admitted that two bullet ridden bodies were recovered from a Nullah in Peochar area on Thursday adding the two had gone missing after the initiation of operation in Swat. Scenic Peochar valley an administrative part of Matta Tehsil which falls forty kilometers north of Swat Headquarters Mingora, it may be recalled used to be the hub of Taliban insurgents in Swat led by Maulana Fazlullah alias Mullah Radio and continued to be troubled spot for quite long time before it was secured by the security forces.
