TUCSON, AZ (KOLD)- The Pima County Sheriff's Department is investigating a homicide, which occurred in Avra Valley Saturday morning.
It happened at approximately 4:30 a.m., said Deputy Jason Ogan, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.
The Sheriff's Department received a call from Border Patrol agents who saw a truck drive into Ironwood Forest National Monument, Ogan said. The truck looked suspicious because it didn't have any lights on.
Agents said they heard what sounded like a gunshot before seeing flames, Ogan said. The truck fled the area at a high rate of speed on Reservation Road.
Border Patrol agents followed the truck, but eventually lost sight of it, Ogan said.
Sheriff's Department homicide detectives arrived to find the body of Nael Alfredo Garcia-Moreno, 24, at the intersection of Mile Wide and Reservation Roads, Ogan said. His body was covered in burns.
No suspects have been taken into custody. The Pima County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate.
