Galkao (Sunatimes) Two Danish hostages held in Somalia for a long time appealed their government and the company owning the ship they board to negotiate with the pirates for their release or they will be in Danger.

  • They're probably boned. From what I read, the pirates have already left the jurisdiction of the Puntland police.

And something tells me there's not going to be a $5,000,000 ransom, either because 1. no one will pay, or 2. most countries have a "no negotiations with terrorists" policy.

    Good luck, I guess.

  • Pay the money, free the hostages and bomb these cunts!

The money will be useless to them when they are dead.

Noone wants to pay. The company is out of business and the government never pays any ransom.
Also - when negociating with these people - if you say "okay 5.000.000 US" - they will answer.. "that price has just gone up to 10.000.000 US"...
      It's an impossible situation.

The best way would be to offer each of the hostage takers 100.000 U$ and a way to go live in another country with their familys.

The hostage takers are doing this for a little pay which is More..

  • So old.. a few months at least.. like 5

Also, what happens when we don't pay.. So we should take the pirates and ransom them back for 5 mil. if they don't pay do the same thing they would do.

    • @sputnik69 Kidnapped from their vessel passing by Somalia.
Today it's been 2 years exactly - and they are still there.

    Anything better conjecture?

  • Saw this many months ago did they ever let them go or did they get killed or what happened to them?

  • I've scoured the internet even in Danish and can't find anything related to these men, were they released or killed? Poor guys

Edit - they were kidnapped in Jan of 2011 and an article written in Oct of 2011 talks about the Danish shipping firm who owned the vessel these men were travelling on (the M/V Leopard) was going into insolvency. An article written in January of 2012 talks about the men being alive and living as hostages for over a year. It doesn't say there is any attempt to pay ransom More..

    • @azer350 Thanks for the update, do you have any more information on this? Is anything being reported in the Danish newspapers? Are the families still vocal about returning their family members?

    • @Departed
We hear nothing about this anymore.
The company is out of business and the government never pays ransom.
These guys will either die - or perhaps some somali army will free them - or perhaps the US army?
Now that we helped them in Iraq and Afghanistan?
I'm sure US has more intelligence about somalia than we do - also better soldiers when it comes to these covert operations.

    • @azer350 Thanks for the update again. It's a real shame for these men and their families. I would hope that someone would mount an operation to free them, although such attempts have recently ended in disaster for the persons involved. It's a shame the papers/media in Denmark have forgotten about their own citizens. Couldn't people raise money through crowdsourcing to pay a ransom? I know it would defeat the purpose of not paying ransoms, but these men have been held captive for such a long time More..

    • @azer350 Hey dude, I found this today.

It seems these guys have finally returned home. Hopefully a party will be thrown for them!

They have efficient ways of dealing with pirates.
