Raw video : Heavy gunfire resumed on Thursday at the headquarters of Bangladesh's border security force in the capital Dhaka, where troops have mutinied against their officers, an AFP reporter at the scene said.
Officials had expected renegade members of the Bangladesh Rifles, a paramilitary force, to start laying down their weapons as part of a general amnesty offered by the government.
But instead fresh gunfire broke out, sending thousands of people around the base running for cover, the AFP reporter said.
Rank-and-file members of the Bangladesh Rifles, or BDR, began their mutiny at the Dhaka headquarters on Wednesday.
On Thursday, police said the revolt over low pay had spread to at least 12 BDR camps outside the capital.
