Minnesota girl's magical moment captures national attention
Siri Jordan has got to pack because tomorrow she will fly first class alongside her dad to New York City.
The Today Show called and they just have to have her for their show.
It all began innocently enough. Yesterday, Siri's grandma told Siri to put on her Sunday best and head to the airport to welcome home an old college friend. It was an innocent lie, to hide, the surprise of 11-year-old Siri's lifetime.
Siri's dad flew home to surprise her during his second tour in Iraq.
The moment Siri's eyes met those of her dad, well, you saw it here on KARE-11. That moment captured your heart, mine, and every other person who saw it.
After the Today Show called today and booked them for TV time in New York, the phone rang again.
The second call came from LA, the Ellen DeGeneres show wanted the duo too.
"I had no idea a simple phone call to a station would turn into an overnight whirlwind success," Siri's dad, Dan Jordan said.
Dan just wanted to surprise his little girl. He's been to Iraq twice, while she has been left behind, to only worry like a little girl will about her hero, her dad, in a war zone.
"There are bad guys and stuff and I feel like he is going to get shot or something or get hurt," Siri said.
Siri's worries fade when she holds her dad close. And her wants, are few. She wants her dad to not just come home but stay home.
"His boss is so nice he could say can I just stay home because my daughter just wants me to stay home," Siri wondered aloud.
The two will leave home tomorrow together. Siri just needs dad to pick a good outfit so they can look good when the world meets them, Monday morning, on Today.
