An Update: The CEO of NICE has heard some of our complaints and will be restoring some of the n27 bus service and n23 bus service this summer. The improvements will be very much appreciated. Thanks!
2:30pm trip from Hempstead, Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. We already have several standees by the time we reach Mineola Ave, then we get overcrowded because the bus before us broke down, and a crowd of people waiting an hour for the next bus squeeze on ours. It's a holiday with lighter than normal ridership, imagine how much worse things will be next weekend! While I think most of Veolia's service changes make sense, the combination of the n23 and n27 routes south of Roslyn was not well though out. They took 2 busy routes to begin with and combined them into one, while some of the emptiest bus routes and the system, the n80 and n81, keep ALL their service, as a politcal favor to Peter J. Schmitt, Nassau Legislative Presiding Officer. I have complained to NICE Bus, my elected officials, and the media, but it falls on deaf ears. Most riders may be in the country illegally and not complain, and will put up with these conditions, but I won't. I'll be forced to spend more and take the LIRR, walk, or save money for a car. Good way to gain new ridership...not in this area!
