Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand today announced the arrest of two of his officers and the resignation of third in connection with charges that include conspiracy to distribute cocaine and steroids possession.
Detective Sgt. John Carroll, 36, 2229 Northbrook Drive in Gretna, was arrested on Sunday and booked with conspiracy to distribute cocaine, domestic abuse battery and simple damage to property.
Deputy Bobby McNulty, 29, of 5135 Citrus Drive in Harahan, was booked with possession of 100 dosage units of stanabol, a steroid.
Carroll was a 17-year veteran of the department, and McNulty was a 2-year veteran.
Normand said the men have been implicated in a scheme involving Carroll's live-in girlfriend, Candy Brown, 35, that includes drug distribution and steroids use.
McNulty and Carroll have both been terminated.
Another deputy, Aaron Verrette has resigned while the Sheriff's Office looks into his role in the same incident. McNulty and Verrette shared an apartment, while Verrette and Carroll worked together in the robbery division.
