LOS ANGELES -- A driver was rescued by a police officer after his vehicle caught on fire along a Los Angeles freeway. The officer was pursuing the vehicle after he noticed the driver was speeding.
The driver merged onto the 110 freeway where it accelerated to speeds of at least 100 miles per hour. According to officials, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the center divider where it erupted into flames.
The officer used his baton to smash the passenger side window and pulled the 30-year-old man from the burning vehicle. The driver was taken to an area hospital where he received treatment for a broken collar bone.
