Dialysis Can Wait… Union Workers Leave Sick & Elderly Patients Stranded So They Can Attend Rally

174 elderly patients, including dialysis patients, were left stranded without a ride to their doctor’s appointments in New Jersey last week. CWA union members decided to attend an anti-Christie rally instead of going to work.
The CWA members were at an anti-Christie rally.

New Jersey State Senator Joe Kyrillos released this statement Monday, via Political Wrinkles.
In response to an apparent ‘sick-out’ staged by Monmouth County SCAT bus drivers, Senator Joe Kyrillos (R- Monmouth/Middlesex) called for the immediate firing of the 17 CWA workers involved:
“It is outrageous that 174 disabled and elderly clients who depend on SCAT were stranded by what appears to be a coordinated effort by employees to disrupt service without notice,” said Kyrillos. “The actions of these workers is completely unbecoming of any public servant, and should make every taxpayer in Monmouth County furious. CWA, the union representing these employees, needs to denounce their members for putting the well-being of these vulnerable individuals at risk, and the employees in question should be fired.”
Seventeen SCAT workers, including fourteen bus drivers for the developmentally disabled and senior citizens, took sick leave with no notice on Friday, February 25th- the same day as a coordinated demonstration organized by labor leaders at the State Capitol. Service was disrupted for 174 clients who take SCAT buses to medical appointments or work.

Posted by Jim Hoft on Thursday, March 3, 2011, 6:25 AM
It’s time to get a little bloody.
Jack Senzig, a music teacher at Gifford Elementary School in Wisconsin, cancelled choir, a tour and a musical so he could go to Madison to protest against Governor Walker’s budget repair bill.
Before he left he posted these violent bloody pictures on his blog for parents and students.

Profiles in Transference: Sheila Jackson Lee Calls Staffers Idiots, Morons and Stupid Motherf***ers
By Doug Powers • March 2, 2011 01:03 PM
**Written by Doug Powers
Alternate title: “Pot meets kettle”
We already know that Sheila Jackson Lee thinks her constituents are dumb (many of them voted for Sheila Jackson Lee, so that’s tough to argue against), but she also, according to this article, accuses her staffers of being sub-stupid:
A lot of politicians give nicknames to their aides. George W. Bush famously referred to his attorney general, Alberto Gonzalez, as “Fredo.” Mitch Daniels, then head of the Office of Management and Budget, was known as “The Blade.” Barack Obama reportedly called Larry Summers, his chief economic advisor, “Dr. Kevorkian.”
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas also hands out nicknames to the people who work for her. The Houston Democrat addressed one of her employees as “you stupid motherf***er.” And not just once, but “constantly,” recalls the staffer, “like, all the time.”
Another Jackson Lee aide recounts the time her parents came to Washington to visit: “They were really excited to come to the congressional office. They’re small town people, so for them it was a huge deal. They were actually sitting in the main lobby waiting area….[Jackson Lee] came out screaming at me over a scheduling change. Called me a ’stupid idiot. Don’t be a moron, you foolish girl’ and actually did this in front of my parents, of all things.”
Wow, that’s kind of like Michael Moore calling you a fat-ass. Somebody seems to be overcompensating for feelings of an inadequate intellect, Sheila.

Idaho Reporter: Recruiter Offers Picketers Fake Notes
IdahoReporter_headerFrom the Idaho Reporter:
A U.S. Navy recruiter in the Pocatello area offered to use his power to excuse students from class to help some pupils rally against Superintendent Tom Luna’s education reform package Monday. Aaron Cavin, a Navy reservist and recruiter, used his Facebook account to offer to help students avoid being marked truant from classes missed while protesting. Madai Montes, a student at American Falls High School, helped create a group on Facebook called the “Statewide Idaho School Walkout” in which she and two other students coordinated protest efforts across the Gem State. On Sunday on Montes’ public Facebook wall, Cavin posted a message encouraging students to visit recruiters to get fake notes in order to avoid being marked truant during the protest.
