Original broadcast summation of CBS News Special Report with Walter Cronkite about the first Earth Day, 1970. Also known as Earth Week 1970. This is part 13 of 13 of the first Earth Day in 1970 you can see the first 12 parts here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbwC281uzUs. You will see many familiar faces including Dan Rather, Bob Schiefer , Paul Ehrlich and many more. I watched the entire show and never heard the term "Global Warming". That is not suprising to me because I was in grade school in 1970 and in middle and high school I was taught that an ice age was coming due to human activities and we would all starve because of food shortages with the extended very cold winters. Some things have not changed: Population control is a must, oil is evil, and humans suck. The big difference is the world refused to freeze, so the scientists did a 180 and blamed the lack of cold on man and now we are all gonna boil in the rising seas. I do recall that the whackos hated paper bags and demanded we go to plastic to save trees and now plastic is evil. Anyway, be sure to watch the wole thing to see the smelly hippies haven't changed much...
