PEKIN, Ill. — A retired Peoria police officer faces only a charge of drunken driving after allegedly pulling a gun on a Pekin officer Friday during a traffic stop.
Mark E. Chittick, 60, of Dunlap also faced charges of unlawful use of a weapon, fleeing/attempting to elude police and improper lane usage from the incident. Those charges were not filed by the Tazewell County State’s Attorney’s Office. State’s Attorney Stewart Umholtz could not be reached Monday for comment.
Chittick is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He is set to appear in court April 29.
Chittick was arrested about 4:30 p.m. near U.S. Route 24 after crossing the John T. McNaughton Bridge and traveling west on Illinois Route 9. The Pekin officer originally tried to stop Chittick in
