  • Could you imagine inviting all of your friends over to a party, completing with cake and sandwiches, all for celebrating the purchase of a big and clunky 21 inch crappy TV?

    • @airspoon

How about hanging out in front of someone's house so you can watch TV through their window? Or driving around town in the sweltering heat with your windows rolled up some everyone would think you had air conditioning? Different time indeed.

    • @airspoon I can clearly remember when we were the first on the block with a color TV and cable (all 8 channels). We were the toast of the neighborhood for a month or so.

    • @airspoon No different from a new 52" and a football party? Folks always have loved to brag about their new purchases.

    • @airspoon How about saving up paychecks and sleeping on the sidewalk for days to buy a telephone...oh wait...

Unfortunately, these days you need to hide new purchases from your neighbors, unless of course you want to get robbed.

We've an education system that purposefully rewards equally, without merit. So, the obverse is that excellence no longer recieves the recognition it once did. A man used to go to work for a company, put his years in and retire. Now, if you do stick with a company, you get pressured for early retirement with the threat of being terminated for whatever reason they can come up with. For those who have already retired, the company declares bancruptcy and settles with the court for a lump s More..

    • @rapscallion Good shall become bad, and bad shall become good. Like no other time our end truly does appear to be very near?

      ...as no other time before.

Sometimes I vacillate, thinking that the criterion hasn't quite been met, but then I think on the indicators that we only know half the story at best. One thing is for certain, the level of decadence cannot be sustained.

    • @rapscallion What I find interesting as far as prophecy? Is that Israel needed to exist, and did not for almost 2000 years. Now it is back, and prophecy appears to say that the end will occur before the first generation has passed away?

  • Got to love the rail car crashes. Are they making a parody of themselves? It doesn't take a marketing genius to realize that this might not be the best company promo film.

  • First three quarters of the film was narrated by a switchman. Last quarter talks about new technology that took his job.
