Dems bankrupt a family organic farm
Lopez Island farm calls it quitsLopez Island residents, Nick and Sara Jones have operated an organic
farm for the past two years. Customers have used a cash box and the
honor system to purchase seafood and beef from a small farm stand near
the road. The Jones Family Farm was running smoothly until two weeks ago
when Nick received a letter from San Juan County. The county wants Nick
to upgrade his stand to comply with commercial building codes—including
upgrading handicap access. Nick estimates the commercial upgrades to
cost approximately $25,000.

San Juan County has harassed Nick and Sara Jones to the point where
they have finally given up. What has happened to their small retail
farmstand? Thanks to San Juan County, they are closed.-

Federal judge decides who is an ‘authorized journalist’—and who is not
“Montana blogger is not journalist,”

U.S. District Judge Marco A. Hernández ruled that “investigative blogger” Crystal L. Cox “was not a journalist and cannot claim the protections afforded to mainstream reporters and news outlets.”

Per Alex Dobuzinskis:

Hernandez found Cox failed to present evidence that she
had any media credentials or affiliation with a “recognized news
entity,” or that she had checked her facts or tried to contact the other
side to “get both sides of the story.”

“Most newspapers and media companies do not subject reader comments
posted online to the same journalistic standards they apply to their own
reporters,” he writes....

Scott Horton Interviews David Codrea

David Codrea, columnist and gun rights advocate, discusses the “Fast and Furious
scandal implicating several government departments in helping
gunrunners buy guns in the US and transport them to Mexico (apparently
in order to boost statistics on illegal gun use, in order to justify
more restrictive domestic gun laws); the Clean Up ATF
website, put together by fed-up whistleblowers, that helped break the
story; why a special prosecutor is needed to stop the Obama
administration’s coverup and start indictments; the ongoing Congressional hearings;
and why Attorney General Eric Holder is probably guilty of obstructing
justice and perjury (and certainly is unfit to perform his job duties).

The Cullman County Democratic party unveiled a platform of local party
values Saturday, setting forth an agenda that asserts many conservative
ideals — especially when compared with local perceptions of the party's
diverse national platform.

The party's executive committee approved the platform Saturday at its monthly meeting.

In addition to the adoption of a local platform, the meeting also
revealed two Democrats who will be seeking office in next year's general

Probate Judge Leah Patterson Lust, the Democratic party's strongest
incumbent seeking reelection for a local office, announced that she will
run for a second term. In addition, longtime Cullman businessman Jerry
Waters announced that he will seek the nomination to replace Democratic
circuit clerk Robert Bates, who will retire when his current term in
office expires.

The adoption of the platform, which touches upon several issues that
represent a strain of fiscal and moral conservatism for which Alabama
Democrats have been historically known, is an effort for party members
to reaffirm that Democrats in the Cullman area are as attuned to local
values as they've ever been — despite recent successes Republicans have
had in championing those same values for political benefit.

Some of the platform’s 10 statements on issues of both local and
national significance — such as the right to bear arms, the sanctity of
marriage as a union between a man and a woman, and the need for an
airtight path to legal citizenship — might, in the current political
climate, seem far removed from the views of high-profile national
Democrats like Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi or even President Obama.

But, said local party member Frankie Jones Saturday, Cullman Democrats
needed to stress that the party's foremost concern is to serve and
reflect the values of people in their own community — something that
Jones said has never changed.

“Historically, the South has been a conservative Democrat part of the
country, and we consider ourselves here in Cullman as conservative
Democrats,” said Jones. “We always have been, and always will be. We
just thought it was time to reiterate some of the things that we stand
for, because, in the past few elections, we have been getting some bad

Dem Rep Says She’s Never Heard of ‘Fast and Furious’
By The Daily Caller

New York Democratic Rep. Nydia Velazquez admitted she did not know
what Operation Fast and Furious was at a Congressional Hispanic Caucus
event on Tuesday.

When The Daily Caller asked Velazquez if she thinks Fast and
Furious was a scandal that rises to the level of a call for Attorney
General Eric Holder’s resignation, she shrugged at first. Then, TheDC
asked if she even knew what Fast and Furious was.

“No, no,” Velazquez replied.
