The occupy movement and other socialist/anarchist/anti-capitalist groups joined what is now called the biggest revolt in Canadian history (Maple Spring).

All started by a government proposal to increase tuition fees. Students took to the streets 3 months ago even though the French Canadian province of Quebec has the lowest tuition rates in North America and would retain that position with the increase. The protesters were further enraged when their government passed an emergency law called bill 78 a few days ago in an attempt to crack down on the protests.
