I got this a few years ago from a Chinese iron casting factory

Nobody from the salespeople know where it came from

Possible a sample that a client left behind

I think it is from USA ,uniform looks like hotel bell boy style in the thirties

It is completely in casted iron , hand painted

If you put a coin in his hand and turn one of the ears he "swallows " the coin
Same moment the eyes turns away

Somebody see this before ?

    And yes as Jack404says below there was a version made in NZ, was made with the lever behind shoulder, hand raises coin to mouth, eye roll and tongue receded...
    Ears did not move, unlike the Starkies example....it was more like the John sharper version.

    My gran had one when I was a kid.
    Worth a few pennies nowadays though !

    The version u show in the clip-video is a recent fraudulent Chinese piece of trash...no More..

      ...and this is why it now has a value, but in the further future maybe have more of a value... Fake or Faux as it may be, it will regardless oneday have a higher value than it has today, or in 30 years time....
      All due to the subject matter.

      Fact is, if you own an original like my Gran... then you is in the money something serious..

      or.... until people disregard or misunderstand racisim in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries...

  • LOL my mum collected a few different antiques of these. Many about are fakes. They are originally called 'greedy little ***** boy' and it will be imprinted on the base for authentic ones. This model is lower quality than the originals.

  • It's name is politically bad but never the less I'll say it.
    It's called a "Jolly Nagger Money Box" (I instead of A) If its one of the originals it was worth up to $100 AU back in the late 90's.
    Worth more now I guess. I bought two but one was a 1940's reproduction.
    Originals are much older. 1890 maybe earlier.
    Another great ond to get is the fat Transvaal Money Box. You have to get one of them too now. :)
    The back of his head is a good way to tell original from fake. I can't remembe More..
