  • Not a bad question, but unfortunately the answer sucks.

The citizens of the US are incapable of doing things in a way that mutually benefits the nation. One of the things that's so discouraging to hear is someone supporting their party for no other reason than they are "die hard supporters" of that party. Citizens elect the way they've always elected, regardless of who the representative is. They don't worry about platforms or commitments. You said it right when you called it a team s More..

  • I think it's because for most people it becomes an easy option to take sides. It requires less thought and less knowledge to say "I agree with everything on this side" than to say, "I like this idea from that viewpoint, and I also like this viewpoint from that side because...". There's also a little bit of peer pressure to be liked by the people that surround you, which is clearly evident here on LL where a lot of the muppets just nod and say yes to other people purely for re More..

  • I 100% agree..... people take sides and dont care about facts it seems. They would rather take side with simple facts of a person, and not dig deep into the person they are voting for.

I mean, just look at Romney supporters.. easily over half of them could not even tell you where he was born or what state he even lives in right now. They simply like him because the old white skin on his person. Hands down, that is a fact and I am not voting for either of these non-american backed candidates.

    • @qwerty4242 Thanks for your comment. By the amount of Ron Paul stickers, posters, etc. I see on a daily basis in Illinois, I have no doubt he would be the GOP candidate if Mr. Money Bags hadn't milked his Super Pacs for everything they are worth.

Just to set the record straight; I will be writing in Ron Paul come election day. I could give a fuck if it takes away votes from other candidates.

  • Short answer: Career politicians and pooled money. If there were stringent term limits on congress, and if money could be donated by individuals only (capped at say, $1000), things would be different.

    • @marinemom Great point! I think Citizen's United is one of the most absurd rulings the Supreme Court has ever made, and it will do nothing but damage our nation until it is dissolved.

    Is not a real democracy

    • @H3dgehog My grandparents are from Belgium, speak Flemish etc. etc.

In your nation, how many parties are there? Quite a few, no? Does this make things more chaotic?

    • @theowl

In belgium we have some more parties and politcians
I think we have around 22 parties and several hundreds politicians

But thats because we have several goverments

      We have a goverment for
      French speaking part
      German speaking part
      Flemish speaking part
and Brussels also have his own goverment
Above that we have the Federal goverment

Looks confusing for outsiders but we are use to it
We also have few hundreds politicians or wanna be politicians who just want to fill their pocket More..

    • @DirtyUncleBerty You only make fun of somebody's HAIR (of all physical things) when you really, really hate yourself. Proven itself true in many situations. Also the morbidly obese are the first to give me shit at a bar about it.

  • well my outsider opinion is that ...what you call democracy which in is in reality a hijacked bipastisan scam of corporotocratism ...MAKE THINGS by DESIGN this way ...you had not a working reliable or independent news media and your basic right were taken away n security and welfare reasons !

your national money is being used and produced like toilet paper by international banks and they are making you pay the interest on every single wipe ...your military is being used to muscle resources from More..

    • @yaleoo Thanks for your comment! I love to here outside opinions.

And believe me when I say Ron Paul has the right idea, and a lot of Americans know this. The problem is that so many people here idolize the man, and not the things he believes. This leads to more "my party is better than yours" mentality that spoils the whole purpose of the liberty message.

And difficult to get out of? More than you know. Impossible? Not for citizens of the United States. : )

  • Your concern as a US citizen about your country seems genuine

    Posted Jun-24-2012 By

    • @myclips Thank you. My concern is indeed real. I love my country and it pains me to see it going further down the drain every year, because people would rather side with a political party than they would think critically about each issue that affects us.

  • It's always been like that. As early as the Election of 1800, Thomas Jefferson was "that French-loving, slave-banging, give-away-the-store pansy" while John Adams was "that fat, Brit-loving, freedom-hating war-mongerer". And when the election was over there were cries of wheeling & dealing, cheating & stealing.

    • @john1054 Personally, I have always been fascinated by the men behind the Revolution and our early days as a nation. You bring up some very good points; perhaps competition for competions sake ( often at the cost of making our country less than everything it could be) is a trait of ours, for better or worse.

And yet again, it is 2012. I would like to think at some point we have to grow out of this "stupid lib, racist neo-con" rhetoric that is forced down our throats by the media, an More..
