  • that ankle joint had serious surgical procedures, but I highly doubt that long screw broke. I have that same screw in mine now, and have another exactly like it that was removed during the second of three surgeries. they are also called "fixations".

    when an ankle joint is fused, those fixations are put into place, usually permanently. they aren't normally removed, and are not removed as a part of fusion, as they are a part of the fusion process.

    • @Amusing indeed pelvic cradle bone grafts are very painful.. i personally have not had one but know a couple of friends who have... and they say the same as you.. painful does not cover it... i do have plates in my wrists and other nasty accident reminders but never had to donate bone from my pelvic area...and after stories from friends dont want it lol

    • @bigair I should take a pic of the screw he says "broke". I have one that I had removed from an ankle fusion similar to his x-ray. the bone will break before that screw breaks.
