We have mounds in my area. All are pre-Cherokee although the modern day natives have adopted them as a heritage item. Generally, they are happy when the existence of the mounds get even a minimal gesture of recognition and respect. But they'll raise issues when the mounds get treated as a obstacle to progress as they sometimes are.
For instance, the mounds that are smack dab in the middle of the local Boy Scout camp. They are cordoned off, have notices posted nearby, and are allowed to be overg More..
