Papillion, NE -- Police in Papillion, Nebraska stumbled onto a grisly scene last week.
Officers believe two pugs were forced to eat their owner's dead body for survival.
The pups named Harry and Sally were left alone in their home for two weeks after their owner committed suicide.
At some point they apparently ran out of kibble and turned to the only food source the had left.
When police found the man dead last week, the body had been badly mutilated.
The Nebraska Humane Society's Greg Bichel says the dogs are well behaved, loveable animals.
The Humane Society will take ownership of the pugs if their owner's family doesn't claim them by today.
They will be adopted out as a pair, and any potential owner will be informed of their gruesome survival story.
