In Colombia you drive from the right side of the road, Same as here in the "US" that would give the car the right a way and the cops, well road kill as they were clearly on the wrong side of the road impatiently trying to get through the gate!

The only explanation i found, is that the driver was thinking in some kind of kidnapping, extortion, or escaping the police for some crime. Cause really does not make any sense!
