Members of the Zumbiel family, who sold the property to Xavier 3 years ago, stood several hundred yards away in the parking lot of Xavier’s Cintas Center to watch the implosion.
Once the site is cleared of a 30-foot pile of rubble, construction is expected to begin on Xavier Square, a 20-acre extension of the campus that will include student housing, a hotel, restaurants, a fitness club and a student bookstore.
