It only took seconds this morning to bring down the 6-story Zumbiel Packaging plant in Norwood, to make way for a new development at Xavier University.
The implosion went off without a hitch at exactly 8 a.m., when workers for Controlled Demolition Inc., a Maryland firm, set off a series of explosives that created a string of loud booms. A few seconds later, the 70-year-old building rumbled and collapsed on itself, sending hug, billowing clouds of dust off to the northeast as onlookers cheered.
Members of the Zumbiel family, who sold the property to Xavier 3 years ago, stood several hundred yards away in the parking lot of Xavier’s Cintas Center to watch the implosion.
Once the site is cleared of a 30-foot pile of rubble, construction is expected to begin on Xavier Square, a 20-acre extension of the campus that will include student housing, a hotel, restaurants, a fitness club and a student bookstore.

That place looked like demolition 101. Nice easy and pretty much perfect. But what the f**k do I know, I don't blow up buildings for a living. :)
