  • This is the biggest thing I like about Americans and it is that they will STAND UP for their RIGHTS even in the face of authority. (Forgive the dopey cop who did not accurately know the law on concealed carry).

The rest of the Western World BOWS to authority and Australians, as much as I admire them (us, me) we also bow to authority.

The time I spent in the USA was very valuable to me and I learned a lot from my American friends.

Unfortunately, Mr Hussein and his chums want more control More..

    www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/concealedcarrybook

    The rule clearly states:

If you are pulled over while carrying a concealed handgun, you should
    remember the following:
    • Before the officer approaches, roll down your window and place your
hands in plain view on the steering wheel.
    • Calmly tell the officer that you have a license to carry a concealed
handgun and that you have a handgun with you. Ask if the officer has

  • Nothing new, police officers are not law school professors but sometimes pretend to be one with a straight face in order to get a reaction. I just had an officer tell me and my fiance' a few weeks ago that we couldn't eat lunch in our parked car after going to Wendy's drive-thru, parking our car in the lot and rolling down the windows. Before I got half way through my burger he pulls up with his lights on, asks to see my license then CCW, asked where my gun was, then called us a risk to other dr More..

    • @khatru Sure. If he would have written a ticket he'd have to explain in-writing what the offence was and why and where I was charged. We would then have the option of paying a fine or appearing before a judge, I would obviously choose to go to court......the judge would then read the ticket aloud with the officer and myself at the bench, and then he would ask the officer to explain the ticket first. That's the part I wanted to hear him explain because there's no judge in the USA that would uphol More..

    • @sirmoneymakpimpwether Wow, i wish we could do that in Brazil. Most of the times you can´t argue with officers who usually have bad trainning, terrible background knowleadge and willing to solve their frustration on streets. If your argue with them at the spot you can be arrested for disobedience (our legal term), so you receive a ticket, then you appeal but in 99% of the times you lose. If you´re arrested for not "obeying" officer´s demand, his words will be more valuable at court More..

  • Same thing in Missouri. You are not obligated to inform them that you're carrying. Most cops don't care -- some want to "check to make sure the weapon is not stolen", which translates to "let me disarm you during this stop".

The last time this happened to me, the leo asked to have my firearm. I removed the magazine, removed the round from the chamber, removed the slide and handed him the barrel with the serial number on it. He wasn't impressed, but neither was I.

If "they" wanted a war, you would be severely outgunned, out-trained and outsmarted. Just because you may own a gun and can shoot straight, does not make you fit for war.

You obviously have not seen the Syria Civil war and how the rebels are winning against their Government's Army of advanced weapons compared to theirs.

As well, you must know the story of the Ants vs the Grasshoppers. The Grasshoppers were big and strong and mighty, but the weak little ants out numbered them, were fast, and the Grasshoppers needed them to get their own strength up in the first place.

Militia is harder to fight than an entire army next door.

    • @Vorna

American armed forces are significantly better equipped and trained than the Syrian army.
And the Syrian rebels are arguably better equipped than a American militia could be (you don't have a concealed rocket licence, do you?)

Your 'grasshopper story' can be countered with the Battle of Kambula - which is not a story but an actual battle where those who were in large numbers were still outgunned.

    • @nopar-T-4me: That's a real safe bet.

In most states, a permit holder has to learn the word of the law before they can get their permit to carry. Many also look at all of the associated statutes, as well as seek out the legal definition of said statutes.

LEO's have many laws to think about...but it'd be nice if they would confirm something before going off half-cocked like this one.

They carry a book of "cheat sheet" synopses of major laws -- largely inaccurate -- and whatever they've happened to pick up from television and personal experience.
