911 Tapes Released In East Huntingdon Party Slaying

On Tuesday, a jury in the murder case of a 21-year-old Bell Township, Westmoreland County, man heard the 911 audio recordings from the night of the slaying.

Chad Bonelli, 21, was shot dead in an apartment building in East Huntingdon on Aug. 26, 2006.

Residents in the Quarry Street building called 911 that night and officers arrived on the scene and quickly arrested Thomas Wojnarowski, 46, who was charged with first-degree murder.

Police said Wojnarowski shot Bonelli in the chest and abdomen after a birthday party being held in neighboring apartments.

In one of the 911 calls, which were made public on Wednesday, one partygoer was heard saying, "We're trying to go to sleep over there, alright? Put the gun away. We're trying to…"

That is when the dispatcher heard a gunshot.

In the next call to 911, a partygoer said, "Hi. Someone just got shot. South Quarry Street. He's shot. He's bleeding to death."

Wojnarowski was reportedly offered a plea deal in the case but refused it.

The trial is set to continue on Thursday.
