Two vessels of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Navy Cruise Training Task, the ‘Choi Young’ and the ‘Dae Cheong’ arrived in the Port of Colombo this morning as their second port of call of a nine country tour of 93 days.
The two Korean Navy ships also carried donations to the Internally Displaced Persons in the north. The ‘Choi Young’ is a cutting-edge destroyer while the ‘Dae Cheong’ is a logistic support ship with crew of 630 members. The Commander of the vessels Rear Admiral Dong-Kyun Kim has visited Sri Lanka in February 2005 as commander of the ROK Navy Tsunami Relief Group. The ROK Navy group is to call on Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the Army and Navy commanders and other government officials before their departure on June 18.
