German Panther Tank of World War 2: Design and Development

The Panther was the German response to the excellent Russian T-34 tank. The first Panthers were very trouble prone, having problems with engine fires, broken road wheels (the number of wheel bolts was doubled on later models), and many other fatal flaws.

Eventually the Panther's technical troubles were worked out, but too late to affect the war. About 5,000 Panther tanks were built by war's end.

  • he rushed his war in so many ways, had hitler just stepped back and really analyzed his timing and planned better he might have pulled it off. the readiness of this tank being one example, another is starting a war on another front before finishing with england via truce,cease fire, w/e Hess knew it too.

  • You can still see a few with your own eyes here in the Belgian Ardennes. Abandoned, like the crew just bailed out. Along with Sherman's, Wolverines and Stug III.
    There is a Sherman in La Roche city centre with it's front armour penetrated just a hole as big as a baseball but all the crew inside was killed. (Says the sign next to it).

  • Here the link to the Sherman, notice the small hole just above the front machinegun mount. It met with the German 116 PZgr Division.
