The State Column — It was one of the most hotly contested races this year.
And now it is decided.
With 87 percent of precincts reporting, Republican Mike Castle has lost to Republican Christine O’Donnell, 46 percent to 53 percent.
The race, which is one of the most closely watched primaries this year, presented political pundits with a divided party. While state party members endorsed Mr. Castle, Ms. O’Donnell received support from former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and the Tea Party.
That said, the latest polls out of Delaware (released last night) show Democrat Chris Coons beating both candidates by a wide margin.
