A whole new kind of Spider has been discovered. It is now known as the largest spider in the middle east. The sad detail about this spider is that it is severely endangered.
A team of scientists discovered the spider in the dune of the Sands of Samar in the southern Arava region. The team of scientists were from the University of Haifa-Oranim and worked in the department of Biology. The man who headed the scientists is Dr. Shanas.
The new spider is a member of the Cerbalus Genus. The spider was given the name Cerbalus Aravensis. The coolest part about the spider is the fact that just one of it's legs can reach up to 14 cm. There is still a lack of details but we they did find out that the spider is nocturnal.
They are hoping that this discovery of the Spider know has Cerbalus Aravensis will help stop mining projects in the Sands of Samar. Dr. Shanas said, "The new discovery shows how much we still have to investigate, and that there are likely to be many more species that are unknown to us."
