The wife of a fire chief shot at point blank range as he watched television at home was tonight arrested on suspicion of his murder.
Rebecca Bryan had attempted to blame the cold blooded attack on a hooded gunman, with a vendetta against her husband Keith.
But police found the handgun used in the brutal murder in the clothes dryer, at the family home near Oklahoma City, as well as ammunition hidden under Mrs Bryan's side of the bed.

According to her account he walked brazenly into their home and shot her husband in the back of the head as he sat on the couch.
The blonde housewife claimed she walked into the living room as the gunman was pulling the trigger and claims he turned to her and said: 'I'm sorry ma'am, but he should have given me the f***ing job.'

Chief Bryan was rushed to hospital but died several hours later, according to News 9.The couple are known to have experienced marital problems as Rebecca had filed for divorce in January 2010, but it was never finalised.Firefighters at the Nichols Hills Fire Department lowered the flag outside their building to half mast upon hearing the devastating news.
Police said they could not rule out that a killer upset over a job application was looking for Oklahoma City Fire Chief Keith Bryant instead of Bryan.The two men live only miles apart and have nearly identical names.
Police found the handgun in the clothes dryer during the initial search of the home, along with a glove and a spent shell casing, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown said.Two boxes of ammunition and a box that had contained the gun were found between the box springs and mattress of the couple's bed on the side where the wife slept, Brown said.Death scene: Keith Bryan died hours after the shooting at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma CityA bullet recovered from a couch cushion matched the handgun, a Ruger LCP, she said.The couple had been married since 1978 and had two grown sons, both of whom were in the hotel room where deputies arrested her at an Oklahoma City hotel. Bryan had long ago promised his liver, if anything happened to him, to a friend of his who needed a transplant, Oklahoma City Fire Chaplain Ted Wilson.
Bryan had worked for the fire department since 1981. Mustang Fire Chief Carl Hickman told Eyewitness News 5 on Wednesday that 'he was not only a good man and respected in this community, but he was well respected across the state.'
Bryan's deputy Terry Hamilton who had worked with him for decades and taken holidays with their families together said: 'He was a good friend, and we'll miss him terribly.'A memorial service for him will take place on Saturday in Mustang.
