The Hopewell had a "complex social structure in 400 a.d." Fascinating and to this day, scholars are piecing together detailed elements of those "social structures."
This was an advanced culture folks.
Looks like so much fun to explore through.
Great video, I did in fact pause at the cues mentioned to read the signs. An awesome tour!

@piruly Thanks bro! yea this stuff i could have cared a less about when i was younger. Maybe some day we will have a "Time Tunnel" like the old TV series, and be able to go back and pay them a visit when all these mounds were being built. ;-) Thanks again bro!

I went into a cave in Tennessee & learned that I did not like chest-tight crawl spaces...lol

@Smudgen Yea caves are cool. Many of them caves there were used to store beer years ago. There is a few breweries in the area. There has been some deaths from cave-ins. This is why they closed off the entrances.

It's a wonder to think that peoples living thousands of years ago, and who lived both sides of an unconquered ocean, have almost the same ideas and styles about burial of their dead. Like your area here, we in southern and eastern England particularly, have ancient burial mounds which house single bodies with a few simple grave goods, to a whole ship. If you think about it, you realise that ancient Egyptian pyramids are little more than burial mounds themselves, do you think that's coincidence o More..
