A high-speed car hit a schoolboy crossing the street at the red light in northwestern Turkey, killing the boy. The accident, which eventually led to the death of the driver as well, was recorded by city security cameras.
The accident took place in the town of Edremit in northwestern Turkish province of Balikesir on Sunday, March 04, 2007. When a few motorcars stopped at traffic lights on an intersection, the car, which could not stop due to incredible overspeed, first slightly collided into a van before hitting a schoolboy. The 15-year old boy was thrown into air with the impact of the crash while the car could only stop after being dragged about 500 meters. The boy was killed at the scene while the driver of the car was heavily injured. However, he succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital where he was taken to following the accident.
