At the mourning for a German soldier who had been killed last Wednesday, Defence-Minister spoke of a killed soldier, while Colonel Gertz, chairman of the German Federal Armed Forces Association, clarified that the soldier is fallen in a war and not just killed like in a car-accident.
On a unanounced visit to the German troops today, Jung denied to call the conflict a war, while just seconds later the Force Commander of ISAF, General McKiernan, (who probably didn’t understood Jung) stated: “It is a war against the insurgent, it is a war for Afghanistan.”
Meanwhile, Germany has payed compensation to a Afghan tribe, of which a woman and two children had been killed on a checkpoint at Friday, when their car didn’t stop, despite the German soldier fired shots in the air and gave other signals as a warning before. This should prevent blood revenge.
