'Avatar' tops $600 million, breaks domestic box-office record held by 'Titanic'

LOS ANGELES — James Cameron's "Avatar" has sailed past his blockbuster "Titanic" to become No. 1 on the all-time North American box-office chart.

"Avatar" climbed to US$601.1 million on Tuesday, putting it a fraction ahead of the $600.8-million haul for "Titanic."
