'Gonzo' journalist whose life the movie "Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas" was based on gives his opinion on politics on a radio show in 2003. Committed suicide in 2005 (frequently made allusions to doing so because of ongoing health problems; lifelong issues with depression).

Greatly affected the field of American journalism with a new style that denounced objectivity and made the journalist's own life part of the story.
