Shane McGowan's Fairytale of New York could be this year's Christmas number one - despite the BBC's attempt to censor it.
After some confusion over whether or not the words "faggot" and "slut" were offensive or not, the BBC censored them and then overturned its own decision.
Now the ballard Fairytale of New York - the best-loved Christmas song never to make UK number one - can be played on Radio 1 in full.
And 20 years on from its release, download sales mean the Shane McGowan and Kirsty McColl duet is in with a chance to beat X-factor reality stars in the Christmas charts.
