The streets of Kabul, normally crowded with military convoys and UN
vehicles, have been taken over by girls and boys on skateboards. The
occasion is the fourth annual "Go Skateboarding Day," organized by
Skateistan, an international nonprofit devoted to empowering young
people through sports. After the outdoor show of skill, the
skateboarders, many in traditional dress, took part in the largest
competition of the year.
