  • It is a tax. But I am not really against it. Everyday I see people turning right on a red without even slowing down.

  • Red light cameras are a money making scheme under the guise of "safety."

  • Target any politician that promotes this highway robbery. Make sure they don't get elected. Tie up the courts, make sure the cameras have proof of Calibration each time you go to court. I can't understand why people would let their cities to get in bed with defense contractors and prey upon their fellow citizens. The fine in California can be over $300.
How about using GPS to catch speeders and have the fine automatically taken out of your bank account.
They will give you as much police state as you will put up with.

  • I got a $300 ticket from a camera for being past the white line. I stopped behind the white line, then advanced forward a bit because I wanted to make a right hand turn and couldn't see past the fender of the truck next to me. The court was an hour and a half from my house and basically took all day to have it dismissed. The judge apologized but that doesn't make up for losing a day of my life to this crap.

  • Quoted comment by MBrad-C13: Red light cameras are a money making scheme under the guise of "safety."

Of course. Gov't in many places of the US has become little more than a shakedown racket. I think if i lived there i'd just move someplace less fascist and with a city gov't not run by greedy idiots.

  • I had a ticket for stopping past the white line in Duncanville but had it dismissed. I hate those cameras. The problem is, there's a traffic officer of some sort that watches the video from these intersections and signs the tickets. THAT person needs to be fired because they're wasting a lot of people's time by not dismissing the people who take a right on red and stop past the white line.
