Jersey City man arrested after morning fight carrying fake guns, a phony hand grenade, and a box of colostomy bags

Two Jersey City men fighting on Journal Square were held by firefighters and one was arrested when found with three toy guns spray-painted black, a plastic hand grenade, and a large knife, officials said.

Patrick Horner, 49, of Van Reypen Avenue, was arrested at 10:20 a.m. Monday and charged with aggravated assault and weapons offense, police reports said.

Responding officers spoke to the 47-year-old victim who said he knows Horner, and does not care for him, so he ignored him when Horner said hello with a Muslim greeting, reports said.

Horner became argumentative and lifted his shirt to display what appeared to be a handgun tucked into his waistband beside his colostomy bag, reports said.
The victim said Horner pointed the "gun" at him and hit him in the face with it and they began fighting, reports said.

When officers arrived and asked Horner for identification, he got it from a green bag, inside which police found two other toy guns painted black, reports said. They also found a knife with a 9-inch blade, the fake grenade, and a box of colostomy bags, reports said.

Horner's bail was set at $20,000 with a 10 percent cash option when he made his first appearance on the charges today in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City via video link from Hudson County jail in Kearny.
