Living in a Coal Producing State that's economy is tied to the mining industry, I am against Cap and Trade because of the cost to my state. I also oppose the fact that when they say that taxing just the rich and Corporations do not affect us when we end up paying the riches taxes when we buy their product or service. (Embedded Taxes)

Dick Morris was an adviser to Bill Clinton. Take heed yea Obama sheep!

Morris is the Dem's worst nightmare. After Hussein of course.
If you libs can grow a pair of nuts and read his book Fleeced, you'd be blown away at how accurate his election and post election predictions relative to Obama are.

I'm a liberal democrat and a civil/environmental engineer, and some of what Morris is saying here makes a lot of sense. Yes: coal states and consumers who buy power from coal-fired power plants are going to take a hit, and the price for all power will indeed go up. But that's not a surprise. Sorry, Kentucky: this legislation is not going to be good for you, and the rest of the country has considered this outcome and judged it a reasonable cost of doing the right thing with respect to carbon dioxide pollution. What Morris is saying about electric cars is also true. After all, a scenario in which one power plant burning coal efficiently to provide power for a bunch of electric cars is likely a better option than a scenario in which there is no coal-fire power plant but all the same cars are inefficiently burning gasoline. Although we do need to phase out coal-burning power plants, electric cars are definitely the wave of the future.

Electric cars are not cost effective.

It's all about slowing down the rate of fuel we use each year. Obama is really pushing for windturbines and solar panels before we run out of fossil fuels and all hell breaks loose. Countries stuck using fossil fuels after the Earth dries up are fu*ked.
Plus this new tax won't hurt industry in the long run. If you are selfish miser running a monopoly powered by fossil fuels sure you will be pissed. But introducing this tax will drive competion for those involved in solar, geothermal, wind...ect, creating new permanent industry and jobs which we will have to switch to anyways in the very near futer. Plus if we establish these new technologies fast enough, the US may become the absolute leading manufacturer of renewable energy technologies to the rest of the world during this transition period.
To not support this line of thought is ludacris, only the selfish super rich who want to stay on top even if it means trainwrecking the country when oil runs out are the ones who support this bill, and will come up with any excuse to convince others they are right. They will do anything to prevent their wealth from being transferred to intelligent people who would profit more than them from new renewable energy technologies.

We all support the environment and we all, I think, want alternate fuel sources. I think everyone thinks Obama is going too fast and too hard and the collateral damage is going to be intense. Look at Universal Healthcare. He's not even willing to talk to the GOP and craft a bi-partisan solution. Why????? As a Dem you can't tell me that's good for this country.

You don't know what you're talking about. Cap and trade will not only hurt US business long term, it will drive companies out of the US, costing us jobs, jobs, jobs.
It will also double your electricity bill, and raise the price of all goods and services. It will effectively be the largest tax increase in US history, and for what? No significant impact on the climate and an exponential increase in government regulation and intrusion on the way we live?
Only a big government lefty could think this is a good idea.

Is anything even manufactured in the US or Canada for that matter anymore? Tried to get a de-humidifier on the weekend, went to three places, all were made in China. Maybe the Quebec importer is not even Canadian.

Cap and trade is not helpful during our current economic crisis.

Some stuff just can't be transported cheaply enough, so that stuff will continue to be made here and in Canada. This guy is right, though, cap and trade isn't anything other than a tax.

I myself am a environmentalist I just don't buy into Global Warming.
Mr Coleman founder of the Weather Channel and some 31,000 Scientist say Global Warming is a Farce.

If big buisness is allowed to have an oil addiction they will as long as they are making money. Super Capitolists will do anything as long as they are making money, even if it means immenent disaster. Oil is going to run out, face it , the sooner we act the more better off we will be.

Do you know a government healthcare plan will take care of you even better than the private industry does now, and at 1/3 of the cost. 2/3 of what you pay for in health insurance goes directly to the insurance company's capitol/ corporate pay and 1/3 goes to your healthcare. Taxation without representtion via. private industry? I think so....

oh yea keep dissin the liberals too, since only 6% of "scientists" (you know intelligent people who get paid to make unbiased decisions to find universal truths in nature?) are republicans. They are the official party of selfish spoiled idiots.
A society needs government and taxes for progress and taxes are they price you pay for civillization, if you dont like either, move to somolia.
