Border services seize 75 guns in Alberta

Largest-ever weapons cache found at Coutts crossing in U.S. truck headed to Alaska

Border officials say they made the largest handgun seizure in the
history of the Canadian-U.S. crossing at Coutts, Alta., on Tuesday.
Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers found the weapons cache
in a vehicle being driven by a Florida man who said he was heading to
Alaska.
The 54-year-old man said he had no guns, but a secondary search
turned up 75 firearms, including 48 handguns — four of them loaded —
officials said.
Twelve high-capacity magazines, a crossbow and a blowgun were also
found among the weapons hidden in the pickup truck, officials said.
The man was arrested and turned over to the RCMP. He faces 10 charges, with more pending.

A court appearance has been set for Feb. 23 in Lethbridge, Alta.
